Meirion (Mei) Kelly

Meirion (Mei) Kelly is a multifaceted instrumentalist at home in the jazz settings, recording studios and broadcast stages of Toronto and beyond. He is a Jazz Performance Masters candidate at the Aaron Copland School of Music CUNY, and a seasoned performer. 2004 highlights for Meirion included engagements for the CBC television broadcast "Salome", and a first call trombone contract for the Canadian Idol Studio Orchestra under the direction of Orin Isaacs. Session work has led to the receipt of a C.R.I.A. Gold Record and Juno nomination for Meirion, who also holds scholarships/bursaries from the Banff School of Fine Arts and the University of Toronto. He is active as a band leader, sideman and music clinician and is a member of ACTRA Toronto Performers and The American Federation of Musicians. The invitation extended to him from Archie Alleyne and Kollage to join their front line for select gigs in Toronto and environs is a great honour for Meirion and he anticipates many fruitful years that will include touring and recording with the band.

"Mei's musical talent is advantageous to Kollage and when expanding to a sextet, he is our first choice."
- Archie Alleyne
