SOME MO' BLACK MEN PRODUCTIONS

In 1994, Black Canadian Performing Arts Company (Blackarts) was created to consolidate a variety of projects being developed and produced by Archie Alleyne and Jay Jackson. Blackarts is a performing arts company based in Toronto, working in music and theatre dedicated to developing new works and producing from the repertoire of the cultures developed by Black North Americans. Blackarts is here to:

• ensure the continued vitality of these important cultures
• develop new artists and allow established artists to continue to work in their cultures, and
• develop new audiences among

    - Black North Americans

    - Black Peoples of other cultures and other communities

Some Mo' Black Men Productions has presented "The Essence Of Brown Sugar" with International singing star GAIL BERRY, blues vocalist SHAKURA S'AIDA, Toronto's First Lady of Blues, JACKIE RICHARDSON and Special Guest Stars, KOLLAGE.

Newest Production, STRUTTIN’. Some Mo' Black Men Productions in collaboration with The Evolution Of Jazz and the Archie Alleyne Mentorship Program presented chapter three of music, dance and song reminiscent of the ever famous Harlem Cotton Club. The evening introduced the talents of students who attended the Humber College jazz programs. These students were part of The Evolution Of Jazz, who performed for the Port Hope Jazz Festival in 2003 and received a standing ovation at both performances.
